Standing at over two feet long and weighing around eight pounds, this set is definitely a display piece. The level of detail in the design is also exceptional, with intricate panels, hatches, and weapons that closely resemble the iconic Imperial-class Star Destroyer from the movies.
Building Experience
Building this set was an absolute delight. The instructions were easy to follow, and each step felt like a mini accomplishment as the ship slowly came together. The use of different building techniques kept things interesting, and I particularly enjoyed constructing the engine thrusters at the back of the ship. It took me around 8-10 hours to complete, but it was well worth it.
Minifigures
The Lego Star Destroyer 10221 comes with six minifigures – Darth Vader, Imperial Officer, two Stormtroopers, Imperial Crew Member, and Mouse Droid. While they may not seem like a lot compared to other sets, they are all highly detailed with unique printing on their torsos and heads. My favorite has to be Darth Vader with his printed helmet and flowing cape.
Playability
One might argue that a set as big as this may not have much playability value. However, I disagree. The top panels of the ship can be lifted off to reveal an interior that includes a control room and conference table – perfect for reenacting scenes from the movies or creating your own scenarios. The ship also has multiple firing cannons for added playability.
